Message from Chan Hon Goh

From a very young age, dance was what I lived for. The passion and gratification of expressing through this art form meant the world to me. My career as a Principal Dancer of The National Ballet of Canada spanned over 21 years and took me to many continents; I was fortunate enough to live out my dream. Today, I have the privilege to realize opportunities and mentor aspiring professionals on their journey to become an artist, but my responsibilities run much deeper than this. After I stopped performing, I realized that I now have the chance to make a difference by being an advocate for the arts and in particular, the art of dance. To not only mentor young talents but to also educate and build audience awareness so that the art of classical dance can thrive, be accessible and be understood for many more generations to come. The Goh Ballet Canada Society supports my artistic and future visions for the development of dance in our country, as well as making a significant difference in supporting the future generation of artists in pursuit of realizing their dreams. I’d like to incite and welcome you to share the joy and beauty of dance by joining the many impactful initiatives that GBCS presents annually.
